Continuing Education Grants

Summary
Continuing Education Grants are available to owners of Wyoming licensed child care programs for the provision of professional development activities for themselves and for their staff.

Who is eligible?
Any child care owner or staff member who is working at least 15 hours a week in a Wyoming licensed child care program is eligible.

What is offered?
Up to $1,000 for allowable expenses per participant per state fiscal year.

What is required?

  • The child care program must pay 10 percent of the total training cost;
  • Contractual agreement with the Department of Workforce Services;
  • Participation in trainings which are not normally provided and which upgrade the current skills of the participant;
  • Trainings which can be completed in less than six weeks;
  • Good standing status with the WY Quality Counts!™ Educational Development Program; and
  • Employment in a Wyoming licensed child care program upon completion of the training:
    • 100 hours employment when the grant total is less than $500 (to be completed within 6 months), and
    • 250 hours employment when the grant total is over $500 (to be completed within 9 months).

How do I apply?
Submit an application (available in Word or PDF) to the Department of Workforce Services at least 45 days and not more than 110 days prior to the training. Applications must be submitted by the owner of the Wyoming licensed child care program.
